Fast Comfortable and Powerful Whitening

If you’re like most of our patients, you want the simplest way possible to whiten your smile. Our whitening method is not only fast and convenient, it is the most comfortable and safe whitening procedure available. The most common (and most effective) tooth-bleaching agent is peroxide. The trouble with most whitening systems, whether they are over the counter or professional, in-office sessions, is that peroxide not only bleaches teeth, it also irritates gum tissue and causes sensitivity by invading tooth nerves via tiny water-filled ducts in the teeth. These ducts are called dentinal tubules.

The most common method of limiting the amount of sensitivity and gum irritation is by limiting the amount of peroxide by using a weaker concentration. Of course, this also limits the effectiveness of the bleach. The other way is to use an oral dam to mask the gums. This is not especially effective either and lesions can form at the gum line because of irritation.

GentleWhite® approaches this problem in a completely novel way. Rather than mask the gingival tissues, GentleWhite recognizes a fundamental chemical difference between tooth structure and soft tissue: Soft tissues (including gums and dentinal tubules) are composed mostly of water, whereas teeth contain very little water. GentleWhite® is specially formulated to detect water. When it finds water, it forms a chemical barrier that peroxide will not cross. This means that, without a dam or mask, gingival tissues are not irritated by the peroxide, and dentinal tubules are chemically protected from peroxide, preventing nerve irritation and consequential sensitivity. While teeth, largely water-free, are left available to be scrubbed white by the peroxide.

The end result: beautiful white teeth, no pain, no sensitivity, and less time spent in the dental chair or with trays in your mouth.
